OVERVIEW
The Gut Pak Run is a competitive eating race hosted by Freshman Class Council and the Baylor Triathlon Club. Racers will run from Baylor’s campus to Vitek’s BBQ and consume one small Gut Pak before running back to campus and crossing the finish line. Proceeds benefit Mission Waco.
ORGANIZERS
Freshman Class Council (FCC) develops relationships and implements activities and events designed to engage members of the first year class. The Baylor Triathlon Club connects Baylor students who enjoy swimming, cycling, and running together and to serve the triathlon community. These groups are working together to provide a fun and unique race for the Baylor and Waco communities to enjoy the best of both worlds while giving back to the local area.
BENEFITTING
Proceeds from this event will benefit Mission Waco, last year $837 was donated, a local non-profit providing Christian-based holistic, relationship-based programs that empower the poor and marginalized. Specifically, proceeds will support Mission Waco’s Youth Arts initiatives.
Timing
Each runner will be given a timing chip on his or her ankle to record the precise duration of the run.
Parking
There is parking available in the 5th Street Parking Garage (near start and across 5th Street from Penland Residence Hall).
RACE COURSE
The course start line will be located at the corner of Speight Avenue and 5th Street on Baylor University’s campus. Racers will run to Vitek’s BBQ via James Avenue and consume one Gut Pak on-site. After finishing their meal racers will race back to campus via James Avenue and cross the finish line on 5th Street at Fountain Mall. Total Distance: 2.2 Miles. Described in map below.
